Sahakar Maharshi Shankarrao Mohite-Patil Mahavidyalaya, (Old Name – Vijaysinh Mohite-Patil Mahavidyalaya) ,Natepute has come into existence in 1991 and started marching forward with the motto “Sa Vidya Ya Vimuktaye”(सा विद्या या विमुक्तये).The College started initially on no grant basis with a faculty of Arts and Commerce with mere strength of 120 students. The college was affiliated to Shivaji University, Kolhapur up to 2004 and from 2004 it is affiliated to newly established Solapur University, Solapur. The college is located in the rural and drought-prone area of Malshiras Tahsil in Solapur District, where the 90% students are from deprived masses and economically weaker sections. At the beginning, the college was housed temporarily in the building of Market Committee. The college was First accredited from NAAC in November 2004 with C++ Grade, Second Re-accredited with B Grade in 2011 and Re-accredited with B+ Grade in September 2017. The visit of Hon. NAAC Peer Team pointed out clearly weakness and strength of college and had given the guidelines for future development and work in the quality concerns of higher education. These guidelines helped us a lot in the opening of new course option, programmes, the vocational courses, so also the infrastructure. The college since its establishment tries its level best to offer creative, supporting and caring environment to the learners. Taking into consideration the need of cultivation of moral, intellectual and skilled human resource and suitable for global job market in the era of globalization. We had tried to introduce Computer and ICT based courses and the courses in science as well. The college is an undergraduate college with the discipline like Arts(June 1991-92) , Science (June2005-06),B.C.A. (June2006-07)and B.Sc.(E.C.S.), June 2007-08 and the Commerce Faculty with Govt. sanction from June 2016-17.In the faculty of Arts, were having seven undergraduate departments as Marathi, Hindi, English, History,

Economics, Psychology, Geography. In the faculty of Science there are two special subjects at special level with Microbiology and Computer Science. However, we are introducing B.Sc. III special Chemistry after getting Government sanction, for which we had already applied. Faculty of B.C.A. is under Commerce Faculty and B.Sc. (E.C.S.) under science faculty having all subjects compulsory. As per the need of an hour and employment based skill oriented courses from National Skill Development Programme of UGC and HRD will also introduced, after sanction in the academic year 2020-2021. The courses like, Travel and Tourism, Journalism and Mass Communication, E-commerce and Management Certificate and Diploma for capacity building and skill development. Besides these we provide education in bifocal courses like Crop Science and a Junior College in Arts, Commerce and Science. For the development of multidimensional personality of the students to inculcate the Human, National, Traditional, and global values, we organize various cultural activities as well as the curricular, co-curricular, extra-curricular and extension activities in the various fields. (Cultural, Sports, NSS etc) along with the various extension and consultancy services provided to the society in true human and patriotic spirit. In view of globalization the quality is the watchword in all aspects of life of an individual and nation. In the fast changing scenario of globalization quality of higher education has got a prime importance and attention by all countries. For the quality concern the assessment and accreditation of higher education institutions is almost essential and we feel pleasure to participate in the process of re-accreditation as per the tenure.

As per the directives of NAAC, we have established IQAC and the report of it are annually submitted to NAAC for the kind information and necessary actions. Quality concerns NAAC peers had truly inspired and prepared us for changing scenario of quality aspects for future developments in higher education. The report of IQAC is submitted by the college for the purpose of accreditation yearly definitely will be fruitful for the overall timely self evaluation. The evaluation report of NAAC will be a light house for us showing different opportunities and avenues in the field of higher education.

Dhavalsingh Pratapsinh Mohite-Patil, Hon. Director of the college and Ex. Chairman of Shri. Shankar Sahakari Sakhar Karkhana Ltd. Sadashivnagar, and Director, Dhaval-Pratap Agro Industries Akluj, Vice-President-Wrestling Association of Maharashtra and Researcher in the field of agriculture and Hon. Dhanashritai Adityaraje Ghule-Patil, the Hon. Trustees, College Development Council and the Management give us continuous stimulation and help in the activities of IQAC.I also thank all the members, of the parent trust and Local Managing Committee for continuous suggestions and participation in all activities of college and strong support in every aspects of evaluation. I take this opportunity to thank Prof. U.A. Sawant – Co-ordinator, Dr. D.G.Shahane, the Ex. Co-coordinator and all the member of college level NAAC Steering Committee and various internal committees for their hard and herculean efforts. I believe that the outcome of NAAC Evaluation of the college at all stages is because of my Students, the Teaching and Non-teaching Staff who plays pivotal role in all activities.
